“Why do you think there is so much consumer and business interest in ergonomic products?

 Consumer Interest

Consumers are interested in “ergonomic products” because those products are more comfortable and easier to use – if they actually are ergonomic. Often that term is used in marketing falsely, so buyer should beware, which is unfortunate. I would advise consumers to ask themselves, “is this ergonomic for me?”

 Business Interest

Business is interested in “ergonomic products” – if they actually are ergonomic – because they make work more comfortable, easier, and therefore more efficient for the large majority of their worker population demographic.

Designing out risk and inefficiencies retains talent, reduces absenteeism, reduces workers compensation claims, reduces healthcare spend, and increases profit.  [The demographic is key when it comes to design, as there are different design goals for gender, ethnicity, age, physical ability, and even cognitive ability.]

Often, designing-in adjustability of height and reach and grip size, or otherwise reducing manual forces, will truly result in what I would call ergonomic design.  This is true for office furniture and equipment, lab casework and equipment, physical labor equipment and machinery, manufacturing equipment, and many more environments that we provide solutions for.  After all, human sizes and abilities vary significantly – e.g. not even half of us wear a size 6 shoe.  One size does NOT fit all!

Warning:

You cannot believe all the marketing use of the word “ergonomic” because most of it has no merit or little merit.

Do you have the training and experience to know what truly is “ergonomic”? We’ve got your back!  Let us guide your selection of “ergonomic” products.
